Housing Squat for Refugees
All over Europe people are taking action to help and welcome the refugees and migrants arriving in the continent. One of the initiatives taken in Athens has been to create a housing squat where refugees can stay for a while before continuing their journey bound for more Northern parts of Europe. In the squat we met Tanja from Denmark who had made her way to Athens in order to participate in the everyday life in the squat located at Notara 26 in the infamous anarchist neighborhood, Exarchia. Elena Askløf and Peter Laugesen asked Tanja about her experiences and why she had chosen to travel to Greece to take action.
This video is one in a series of twelve under the ‘Europe in Action’ education project made in collaboration between Elena Askløf and Peter Laugesen and the Association of Folk High Schools in Denmark, supported by Europa-Nævnet.
